What is EirSpace?

We are the Ireland’s first student rocket organisation aiming to compete on the world stage in student rocket competitions across Europe and North America.

Our Mission:

  1. “To provide students enrolled in an Irish third-level institution with experience and knowledge in rocket and aerospace technology.”

  2. “To help establish an aerospace industry in Ireland.”

  3. To promote STEM to primary and secondary school students through outreach programs.

  4. “To represent Ireland in international aerospace competitions.”

EirSpace as an Entitiy

Eirspace was founded as a non-profit organisation due to the constraints of working under a single university.

EirSpace is led by a management committee with the support of an advisory panel.

We bring together high achieving students from third-level institutions across Ireland.

EirSpace is currently seeking charity status in order to broaden our reach, and fundraising opportunities.

We aim to support students of all ages and inspire them to reach for the stars!

Why was EirSpace established?

The founders of EirSpace believe that Ireland lags behind other European nations in aerospace innovation despite the industry's growth.

Additionally, Irish universities are seen as inadequately preparing students for aerospace-related careers due to a lack of relevant courses.

As of 2024, there are 4,720 courses offered by 28 colleges across the island of Ireland.

Only 2 of these courses are related to Aerospace Engineering, and neither are them are based in Dublin.

EirSpace aims to change this and hopes to be a pipeline for young Irish engineers who want to reach for the stars and gives them the opportunity to gain practical skills.
